We believe that liberty, equality, and prosperity can be maintained only in sustainable democracy. Good governance is a cornerstone of sustainable democracy. We believe, in public administration, we should continually implement cutting-edge research, knowledge, and technology to deliver effective governance. We also believe that we owe it to future generations to protect the environment and promote peace and prosperity.

Mission

Good Governance Institute is an independent nonpartisan policy institute that is dedicated to:

• Enhance good governance through policy development, progressive ideas and innovative solutions in the field of public administration;

• Support state institutions at all levels in the development of their institutional and intellectual capacity;

• Challenge decision-makers to make decisions based on evidence and analysis to ensure protection and consolidation of liberty, equality, and prosperity;

• Create space for the collaboration and networking of young professionals and prospective leaders to unite their knowledge, skills and experiences for the common good of the nation;

• Give in-depth comprehension to young individuals in politics and policy-making;

• Bring positive changes in action.

Dialogue

Active participation of citizens in the public-political process is crucial in a modern democracy. Public engagement ensures inclusive decision-making and sustainable democratic development of the nation. Considering the lack of civic education, weak political culture and fragile party system in Georgia, it is vital to have a strong base for the interaction and collaboration of young Georgians with the western liberal-democratic values, who are interested in the public-political activities, to unite their knowledge, skills, and experiences for the common good of the nation.

Research & Policy Development

Research and policy development is one of the key areas of our expertise. Good governance, primarily, is based on good policies in parallel with transparency, accountability, and effectiveness. Each dimension of public policy has the ultimate impact on our daily lives and each of them requires constant assessment and development. We work on a wide range of policy areas to support good governance, notably: anti-corruption, democratization, European integration, security, education, and sustainable development are our primary focus. Our team of experts comes from different parts of the world, experienced in developing successful policies for different governments at all levels.​

Exchange of Experience

​Thematic study visits provide opportunity to share expertise and knowledge, and to look at best practices, that can be transferred and adapted to improve public service performance. Countries’ performances are assessed by the important international indexes and rankings that are based on various indicators reflecting conditions of a given country in a particular field. Positions in the international indexes and rankings have a significant influence on a country’s reputation, international political support, and investment opportunities. We design best practice study visits to cover a wide range of themes, such as Democracy, Elections, Governance, Law-making, Justice, Business, Urban development, Youth, and Gender equality.

 

School of Modern Politics

The School of Modern Politics offers an executive diploma program in Political Leadership, New Public Management, and Public Policy Analysis, designed for leaders who want to obtain the knowledge and skills needed to address the challenges of modern politics and diplomacy. The program provides instructions about theoretical, empirical, and methodological aspects of understanding and analyzing politics and international relations. Participants will acquire a solid foundation in governance, elections, public policy, management, diplomacy, public relations, and rhetoric, empowering them to build and lead the change-making teams of the future generation.
