Uzbekistan Supreme Court's Study Visit to Georgia

On October 2, 2019, Good Governance Institute, in partnership with USAID and UNDP, organized the 10-days intensive study visit program for the Uzbekistan Supreme Court delegation.


The purpose of the visit was to study the practical experience achievements of Georgia on the reforms related to the Justice, Judiciary and Public Service Delivery. Meetings were held with the representatives of the Supreme Court of Georgia, the High Council of Justice, the Ministry of Justice, and the Ministries of Economy and Sustainable Development, etc.

The visit started at the Supreme Court of Georgia, where the acting chair Mrs. Mzia Todua presented general information on the judicial system of Georgia. Furthermore, the Heads of the secretariat of the Civil, Criminal, and Administrative Affairs Chambers, presented information on the system of common courts of Georgia, and peculiarities of the civil, criminal and administrative proceedings and rules of adjudication.

Index of Economic Freedom; Doing Business Index; Rule of Law Index, Index of Democracy were discussed at the meeting in the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development. Mrs. Tea Loladze, Head of Department for Evaluation of Economic Policy and Regulation presented information about the reforms carried out by the Georgian Government to improve the country’s positions in the international rankings and indexes.

The Justice reforms were discussed at the Ministry of Justice. Mikhail Sarzhveladze Deputy Minister of Justice presented information about the different waves of the justice and judiciary reforms conducted in Georgia for the recent years, which has increased transparency, accountability, judicial independence, and efficiency.

Within the framework of the study visit, visitors had the opportunity to visit and observe infrastructure and daily operation of the following institutions: High Council of Justice; High School of Justice; National Bureau of Enforcement; Tbilisi City Court; and House of Justice.
